Jemma Powys (Nicoll) // Managing Director
Jemma is a teacher, choreographer, writer and speaker. She has trained in the areas of Classical Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary dance, and holds a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching & Business Management. Jemma began Inspire at the age of 16, and has since interacted with thousands of young people across Australia and New Zealand through creative education. She is the founding board member of KidsPace Code, an organisation dedicated to combating the objectification of children in the performing arts industry, and promoting positive, safer dance communities. She has worked alongside other pivotal voices in this field including Melinda Tankard Reist and Steve Biddulph. Jemma is cited in Biddulph’s latest book: ’10 things Girls Need Most’, was a 2016 Australian of the Year nominee, and presents regularly in schools and conferences. With a BA in Journalism and experience as a freelance writer, Jemma’s main writing topics are youth culture and wellbeing, and issues affecting girls and women. Jemma loves sharing her knowledge with young artists, and encouraging Inspire students in their talent, creativity and love for the Creative Arts.
Sarah Furnari // Musical Theatre and Drama Director
With over 10 years of teaching experience across Sydney and the USA, Sarah is excited to be back for her fourth year with Inspire Creative Arts. Sarah is a graduate of the University of Wollongong's Bachelor of Creative Arts (Performance/Acting) course where she was awarded the UOW Creative Arts Scholarship. As an actor, Sarah has worked in theatre, film, television and musical theatre. She also has extensive singing and dance experience. In 2019 you will catch Sarah onstage performing in a Sydney Shakespeare season, as well as appearing in a brand new TV show on Channel 10. Our Musical Theatre and Drama Program has thrived under her guidance, with students now taking on the auditioning and casting world under Sarah's care and expertise. Sarah says: "My vision for my students is that they grow into courageous, authentic storytellers with open hearts, empathy for others, and a tonne of creative flair. I want them to know that by taking ownership of their own story, young people can make their voices hear - little by little, creative arts have the power to shape their future and change our world."
Courtney Beardow // Studio Operations Coordinator
Courtney has been sharing her love for dancing with Inspire Creative Arts since 2017 and is very excited to be taking on the role of Studio Operations Coordinator in 2021. At age 3 she began dancing where she trained in the styles of ballet, contemporary, lyrical jazz and hip hop. From here Courtney found her passion for sharing dance with others through teaching. She now has 7 years of teaching experience with students varying from age 2 to adults. Whilst training in Byron Bay Courtney performed in shows including 'Tree of Life' and 'Born To Sing'. She also was a choreographer and dancer for multiple music videos. In 2016 Courtney moved to Sydney from Byron Bay to train at Ev & Bow Full Time Training Centre. This allowed her to learn from Sarah Boulter and Lisa Bowmer along with many other industry professionals. Here she received her Certificate IV and Diploma in Dance. Courtney also continued her training under the guidance of Lucy Doherty and Rob McLean through their 'More Than Movement' program. In 2020 Courtney completed her Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management, to continue to grow her knowledge. This year she will also be studying to receive her Certificate III and IV in Business. Courtney can not wait to spend another year with her Inspire family!
Monique Constantine // Talent Development Coordinator
Miss Monique experienced a rich dance journey of experiences, classes and scholarships and is excited to be teaching for her fifth year with Inspire Creative Arts. From a young age, Monique studied all styles of dance but developed potential in Classical Ballet. Monique transitioned to full-time ballet where she undertook 25 hours of intense ballet training a week under the guidance of The Macarthur Ballet Studio, Academy Ballet and The Australian Ballet School. She completed all Royal Academy of Dance exams with results in the high distinction band. At 16, Monique was 1 of 10 students selected out of 5000 to be offered an acceptance letter to the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. Monique also competed in many dance competitions; her biggest achievement winning the Gold medal at City of Wollongong Eisteddfod, Open Age Classical section. Monique has also attained a Certificate IV in Dance at Ev&Bow. Since retiring from dance, Monique has developed a love and passion towards teaching dance and ballet to students at Inspire. This passion led her to create ;Aspire Classical Conditioning', to drive the next generation of aspiring dancers. She is studying a Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies course to become registered with the Royal Academy of Dance, and has attained a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching and Management. Monique is also qualified in Progressing Ballet Technique. Monique is the coordinator for Classical Ballet and Inspire Performance Collective (IPC) and directs Aspire Classical Conditioning. She is passionate about taking the talent of Inspire Creative Arts to the next level, and cannot wait for 2021 to unfold!
Sharnielle Hartley // Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre, Vocal Tuition
Sharnielle's performance experience includes Universal Studios Japan where she was Lead Singer and Actress in daily theatre shows, as well as a Lead Vocalist in internationally acclaimed show 'Burn the Floor'. This show has taken Sharni across Australia, Japan, China, South Africa and onboard the Norwegian Jewel.
Sharnielle holds a Diploma of Musical Theatre from ED5 International and has recently returned home from training intensively with Broadway Dance Centre (NYC).
Sharnielle also has a wealth of teaching and choreographic experience and is eager to share her knowledge and expertise in singing, dance and performance with the students of Inspire Creative Arts.
Claire Males // Jazz, Contemporary, Stretch & Strength
Claire grew up in Tasmania where she fell in love with dance!
She then made the move to Sydney to train with Ev & Bow for two years, where she gained a Certificate IV and an Elite Diploma in Dance. Claire loves all genres of dance, particularly Jazz in its many forms. Her ultimate dance performance goal is to become a Radio City Rockette in New York City!
With a life time passion for performing and teaching dance, Claire is so excited to again be a part of the Inspire teaching team for 2021.
Taylor Murr // Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary
Taylor has been dancing since the age of 2, with training and performance in a versatile range of styles including Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Ballet and Tap. Taylor’s dedication to inspiring her students and devotion to their love for dancing helps create an exhilarating environment for all those she teaches. Taylor has enjoyed 4 years of teaching experience at Inspire Creative Arts and is soon to begin her 5th year of teaching at Inspire.
Taylor completed a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching & Management at the Australian College of Dance in 2019, proceeding to choreograph various group, solo and duet routines for Regional Dance & Local Shire Eisteddfods.
In 2020, Taylor completed her Dance HSC with Ev & Bow, receiving ‘Call Back’ nominations for both her Major and Core dance performances. Taylor is currently studying a Bachelor in Education (Primary), fulfilling both her love of inspiring and teaching children as well as assisting them achieve their own goals and aspirations in the process.
Isabella Klemke // RAD Ballet, PBT & Conditioning
Bella has a huge passion for Classical Ballet, and is so excited to now be able to share this with the students of Inspire.
Bella trained at McDonald College full time from 2013-2015, then commenced studies with Ev & Bow Full Time Dance Training Centre. Here she learned under the guidance of Sarah Boulter and Lisa Bowmer, and received her Diploma in Dance. From here, Bella travelled abroad to further her training at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London.
Bella is certified in Progressive Ballet Training, and is currently studying a Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies course with the Royal Academy of Dance, in order to be a registered teacher.
Shannon Kenmare // RAD Ballet
Shannon has always loved dancing! During her schooling years she attended Westfields Sports High School and studied at Select Dance Co. and All Starz Performing Arts Studio. In 2014 she had the opportunity to be apart of the Locreado Dance Program. Shannon has worked for Disneyland Paris as a ‘Character and Parade Performer' and appeared in a Nickelodeon Junior TV Series called ‘Calvin and Kaison Play Power’. She has recently worked with Nikki Webster on the release of the Trolls World Tour - Australia’s Biggest Trolls Dance Party as the character ‘Poppy’. She has performed with 'Ready Set Dance' in their live shows as their character ‘Freeze’ and is a current member of the NRL Dragons ‘Flames’ and NBL ‘Hawks' Dance Team. Shannon holds her Certificate III in Assistance Dance Teaching. She is also currently undertaking the RAD: CBTS (Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies) course to become certified in the RAD Ballet Syllabus. Shannon is so excited to continue to share her love and knowledge with her Inspire students!
